The brand Erlau emerged from the Erlau AG, founded 1828 in Aalen. The Swabian house of ideas develops and produces in Germany and markets its products worldwide. It is a subsidiary company of RUD Ketten Rieger & Dietz GmbH u. Co. KG, which was also founded in Aalen in 1875, making it part of the internationally successfully positioned RUD family business. The RUD Group has more than 1,700 employees working in over 120 countries on all continents, and achieves annual sales of more than 200 million euros. It has been officially selected as a "Hidden Champion of the 21st Century“.
